Campus soon will be buzzing with new Maroons.
Move-in day for new Roanoke College students is this Saturday, Aug. 23, while full day classes officially begin on Aug. 27.
There are a slew of orientation events throughout the weekend that are sure to get our newest students excited and oriented to college life.

- Saturday, Aug. 23:
Induction Ceremony and College Welcome: New students will seal their fate as official Maroons during this special ceremony held at 4 p.m. in the Bast Center, at which they sign their names into the College’s record books.
- Sunday, Aug. 24:
R-House: For the past eight years, new Roanoke students have strapped on hard hats and work gloves and spent the first few days of their campus experience building a house for Habitat for Humanity in a parking lot behind Olin Hall, on Thompson Memorial Drive. Students will work on the Habitat House from Sunday through Tuesday (Aug. 24-26).
R-City: At 7:30 p.m., students will travel by bus from Roanoke’s campus to the city’s downtown, where they will dine in restaurants, hear live music, socialize and get to know the area. Participating businesses will accept $5 wooden tokens from students as payment.
- Monday, Aug. 25
R-Town: Students will get to know their Salem neighborhood with an evening visit to the streets of downtown Salem to dine at restaurants, shop and stroll Main Street.
